Peperomia tetraphylla 'Hope'
Pink pine panel
A Peperomia 'Hope' mounted on a pink-painted pine panel. Not a cactus — this easy-growing plant has thick, coin-like leaves that cascade beautifully and make it surprisingly drought tolerant. Pet-safe and easy to care for.
Native to the dappled understory of Neotropical rainforests, epiphytic Peperomia grow clinging to tree trunks rather than rooting in soil. The thick, coin-like leaves are an evolutionary adaptation for life in the forest canopy: they store water for the dry weeks between rain. Mounted on a pink panel in your apartment, it gets to live the way it would in the wild: perched on wood, drinking through occasional misting, slowly cascading downward over years.
I love how the leaves catch light. They look like wax, but they're alive.
