Lepismium cruciforme
Pink pine panel + turquoise hemisphere
A Lepismium cruciforme mounted inside a turquoise hemisphere on a pink-painted pine panel. The perforated dome provides excellent root aeration while creating a striking sculptural form.
A Brazilian epiphytic cactus from the Atlantic Forest, where it lives draped from tree branches and rocky outcrops. Lepismium cruciforme's triangular, winged stems give the species its name (cruciforme = cross-shaped in cross-section) and make it instantly distinct from any other cactus you'll meet. With enough sun, the stems turn a beautiful reddish pink and cascade downward in graceful elegant arches. In time it will reward you with beautiful small pink flowers and fruit!
It looks like a sea creature pretending to be a plant.
