Disocactus anguliger
Plastic mesh frame
A Disocactus anguliger mounted on a functional plastic mesh frame with hanging loop. The aerated lattice provides excellent airflow for the roots. A no-frills option for the plant lover who cares about function over form.
Native to Mexican cloud forests in Veracruz and Oaxaca, where it lives high in the canopy under dappled light from oak and avocado branches. The Fishbone Cactus differs from desert cacti in lacking spines and having flat stems that expand into ribs to capture as much sun as possible. Once a year, if it's happy, it produces enormous white flowers that open after sunset and last only one night, releasing a citrus-vanilla scent that draws in its natural pollinator, sphinx moths.
With sculptural stems, massive scented flowers, and a tenacity that makes them almost impossible to kill. This is one of my personal favorites!
